this is a long story.. of somewhat seriousness

i like stories, especially stories about cool people.

there was this cool hipster. he attended the fine culinary college of New Versey. For the sake of the story, let's name this cool awesome hipster of a kid, Jean Pierre. But Jean Pierre was not always a hipster

about a year ago, Jean Pierre had a friend named Johnny Bravo. Johnny Bravo also attends the fine culinary college of New Versey. Johnny is a complete pro at cooking. He even defeated chef Ramsey from Hell's Kitchen in a cooking duel. Clams is Johnny Bravo's specialty. Johnny also once made a cake out of oreos and bagels

Jean was secretly jealous of such skill and talent. Jean would try to fit in some of the social groups at college by spreading lies and rumors about cooking victories of the past that were completely false.

Jean would also get frustrated and feel worthless

it got so bad that Jean eventually stopped talking to his friends, even Johnny Bravo. When his friends would voice concern, Jean pushed them away.

a summer passed. during this summer, Jean's frustration only got worse. It got so bad that at one point, Jean cussed out and threw punches at Johnny.. his best friend.

going into a new semester of culinary school, Jean was completely confused and clueless on what to do

Jean really didn't have any idea on what to do to make these frustrations go away. However, he remembered a group on campus that Johnny Bravo always spoke very highly of. for the sake of the story.. let's call this group: The New Versey Cooking Guild .. NVCG for short

so Jean decided to check this out..

After checking out this group at one of the Community Sauce Festivals that the college holds at the start of every year, Jean seemed hesitantly interested

Jean was even asked by NVCG to hand out free sauce samples to interested kids at the fair.. Jean agreed and began a slightly awkward adventure

no one seemed really interested in the free samples but it was a really cool experience for Jean and it was kind of surprising to him that a group would freely give out such responsibilities

Jean was kind of getting back into the swing of things.. for instance, one weekend, Jean went to a ralph lauren outlet and bought mad hipster clothes.. Jean came back to campus .. a new man (not really but he did look cooler ha)

One day Jean met this girl.. and for the sake of the story, her name was Betty boo

For some reason, Jean was really impressed by this girl's stir fry skills.. she was a complete pro

however, Jean noticed that she wasn't real happy

it turns out that Betty doesn't think she is any good at all at making a decent stir fry

the two of them began to talk.. Jean was so impressed by her stir fry skills that he wanted to ask her if she could teach him

Jean was however, a bit hesitant to ask

the semester drug on

Jean began to attend NVCG cooking meetings.. and he also began encouraging betty about her cooking because he secretly wanted to learn how she made such crazy win Stir Fry ensembles

jean began to feel a bit better from the last summer. He became ever so involved in the NVCG cooking group..

however.. John Wayne.. a friend of Jean's, dropped out of college..

this saddened jean.. jean wondered if it was something he did.. Jean then started to question if he was a good friend to any of his friends at the college.. jean wondered if he even made a difference

He began to worry that maybe.. his encouraging was failing.. maybe other friends were having a rough time

at this point.. Jean had no idea what to do..

Jean felt so useless as far as helping his friends.. friends such as Betty and John Wayne

However, through all this.. Jean began to realize his own talents.. that he wasn't so completely useless..

He began to realize how very blessed he is.. It was a long school year for Jean.. and he learned a great deal of things about himself

As far as Betty Boo.. Jean no longer cared if she would ever teach him her stir fry techniques.. all he wanted was for her to not feel completely useless and confused as he once did

if only Jean could have been better friend to John Wayne..

but we all make choices

and it's not in anyone's hand except God's

Jean became ever so grateful for many of the things he has

he has it all..

at the conclusion of this story ..

if such crazy characters like Jean Pierre have it all and are so very blessed .. aren't you too?

Jean realized that cutting relationships and giving up is a permanent and false solution to a temporary problem

He realized that fooling himself by lying and trying to fit in is false as well

He realized that God has always been there

it's not a game.. it's not a contest.. and none of us have to win

we are all Jean Pierres in our own way.. we are all flawed

but we are never useless

we all mess up but never permanently

we can never be rejected.. except by temporary things that don't last and are full of lies

what we all have already is much more than we could ever want

long time

It's been a long time since i've posted anything on this blog.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that blogspot did not delete this account ha.

I'm not sure what I really want to post here at the moment.

Word Visualization

The Road Not Taken -Robert Frost

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim

Because it was grassy and wanted wear,

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I marked the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

When Video Game Worlds Collide
Shigeru Miyamoto and Sid Meier

When Video Game Worlds Collide” compare and contrast Sid Meier and Shigeru Miyamoto. Both of these video game designers represent completely different fields of video game composition. The chief ends of the exhibit are to investigate the differences of the two vastly different works of the designers and to also examine the present cultural differences that have manifested into these games.

Group Presentation Responses

Landscapes of the Mind

Florian Maier-Aichen, Oliver Wascow, and George Grie

I found the Landscapes of the world to be a very thorough presentation. Maier-Aichen’s work was very interesting due to his very painting-esque photographs. The subtlety in his work was very successful.

George Grie was also very interesting. His neo-surrealistic images are strikingly beautiful. Lastly, Oliver Wascow introduced very interesting images that held a lot of narrative with them. They were alluding to utopian/dystopian worlds and had a very apocalyptic feel to them. Overall, I think that this was a well put together exhibit comparing three similar yet different in small subtle ways.

Reality, Virtuality and Digital Synergy

I found the interactive Installations to be very interesting.

The entire usage of computers were presented in such a different way then any other digital artist I have seen before.

Expressions of Color

I found the comparison of several famous graphic designers to be very interesting. Perhaps the most interesting part though is the inclusion of Joe McNally. McNally is strictly a photographer and does not alter his images using any such editing programs. This makes his media the camera itself and setting up certain compositions when taking the stills. Overall, I thought that this was a successful comparison of the three artists.

Feng Meng Bo and Paul M. Smith

Feng Meng Bo’s work was very interesting due to the inclusion of the audience into the work. His alteration of Quake was very interesting and different as far as digital artists go. The comparison with Paul M Smith was interesting also because both artists seemed to have incorporated themselves into their work in very interesting ways. Paul M. Smith incorporated himself multiple times in such a subtle way that at a quick glance, his images look like they’re a picture of a group of people. Overall, I found the comparison to be very successful.

Synthesizing Nature, Digital Art is Music

I found the comparison of digital music artists to be very interesting. This medium is relatively new to the art world. Thus, the comparison opened my eyes to a different medium that I have never been accustomed to.

The different sounds that these artists produced were weird and different yet beautiful in its own way. Overall, I found the comparison to be successful and different.

Whitney Biennial 2 artist comparison

I found Mrs. Jessica Drummond’s “My Reputation” to be a very successful piece. The use of the ink marks is not only very precise, but also very stylized. This piece differed from a lot of the many pieces in the gallery due to the more traditional medium. However, the shape and size of the piece was very unique and striking. The sheer scale of the ink drawing was very impressive in and of itself. The piece also had a very organic feel as if it was unfolded prior to being displayed.

I also found the works of Charles Ray to possess the same traditional style ad medium usage to that of Drummond’s work. The colorful flowers seemed to have a subtlety to them. In other words, the drawings seemed to have hints of color rather than to be glaring bright colors at the viewer. I also enjoyed the amount of work in the context of the installation of Ray’s work. The installation was a decently sized room with nothing on the floor. The works were hung up on the walls surrounding the room. I think this only added to the gentle subtlety that the drawings brought. I didn’t feel like I was in a museum when I was in this installation. Call me weird, but the absolute traditional composition of the entire room made me smile.
